After representing Jamaica Tallawahs in the 2019 edition, Chris Gayle will feature for St. Lucia Zouks in the Caribbean Premier League 2020. The CPL2020 season is scheduled to start from 19th August till 26th September. He is the leading run-getter in CPL history with 2354 runs and will be looking to entertain the crowds. At the present moment, Gayle has scored 13296 runs in T20s from 404 matches ( 396 innings). He holds the record of the highest individual T20 score of 175* for RCB against Pune Warriors India in 2013.
Chris Gayle did not have a great 2019 CPL season with Jamaica Tallawahs scoring just 243 runs from 10 matches which included a superb 116 off 62 balls. Despite his efforts, Jamaica Tallawahs lost the match.
Tallawahs disappointed finishing last in the points table. This will be his fourth team for Gayle in CPL history. Gayle was a part of the Jamaica Tallawahs team which won the title in 2016.
He featured for Jamaica Tallawahs for four seasons before moving St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. In last year’s season, Gayle signed for Tallawahs again.
I welcome him to the Zouks Franchise. Chris will be in St Lucia and the fans will be happy that Jamaica has released him. I will have a motivated Chris Gayle looking to prove a point that he is one of the leading T20 batsmen in the world. I can’t wait for CPL 2020 and hopefully, the Coronavirus will be under control and we can have an exciting T20 tournament.”
“It’s brilliant news that we have been able to get Chris Gayle with us at this year’s CPL 2020. I have got a long association with Chris running all the way back to his debut Test match in Trinidad back in 2000. I’ve seen his exploits in all three forms of the game and I am really looking forward to working with him and Daren Sammy toward a special year for St Lucia cricket,” Andy Flower, who was appointed coach of St Lucia Zouks not too long ago, said.
Caribbean Premier League began in 2013 which includes teams like Barbados Tridents, Jamaica Tallawahs, Guyana Amazon Warriors, St Lucia Zouks, Trinbago Knight Riders. He will play along with Darren Sammy that won 2 T20 World Cups.
