Jasprit Bumrah becomes 3rd Indian to pick up a hat-trick in Test Cricket

It was an amazing display of bowling by Jasprit Bumrah who created havoc as he became the third Indian to pick up a hattrick in Test cricket on the 2nd day of the 2nd Test match played at Sabina Park, Jamaica on Saturday.

Starting the 2nd day on 264 for 5, Rishabh Pant was dismissed by Jason Holder of the very first ball. Ravindra Jadeja came to the crease and scored 16 before getting out by Cornwall. Hanuma Vihari looked solid with his defensive technique which made the life tough for West Indies. Both batsmen scored with ease and took on West Indies bowlers. Vihari reached his maiden century in Test cricket off 200 balls while Ishant Sharma reached his maiden 50 off 67 balls. Ishant Sharma scored 57 and added 112 runs for the 8th wicket. India was bowled out for 416.

The Indian team made a perfect start after the tea break as  Jasprit Bumrah India the breakthrough dismissing John Campbell for 2. In the 9th over, Bumrah wreaked havoc getting wickets of Darren Bravo, Shamhrah Brooks, and Roston Chase to become the third Indian to pick up a hattrick in Test cricket. Shimron Hetymer was the lone resistance provided for West Indies with 34 runs. Bumrah ended the day with the wicket of West Indies captain Jason Holder to end the day with figures 6 for 16 in 9.1 overs.

After a sensational bowling spell in the 2nd innings of 1st Test at Antigua, Bumrah continued his superb form. Bumrah has taken 5 wicket hauls in South Africa, Australia, England, and West Indies twice. With the way he has developed his outswingers, Bumrah is creating damage to the opposition batsmen.

India has left West Indies in tatters at 87 for 7. Bumrah would be looking to add his tally and help the number 1 Test side to win 2nd Test match and register another 60 Test championship points.

Harbhajan Singh became the 1st Indian to pick up a hattrick during a historic Test match played at Eden Garden’s, Kolkata from 11th March 2001. He grabbed Ricky Pointing, Adam Gilchrist and Shane Warne. India won that match after made to follow on.

Irfan Pathan was the 2nd Indian to achieve the feat against Pakistan played at National Stadium, Karachi from 29th January 2006. He picked wickets of Salman Butt, Younis Khan and Mohammad Yosuf in the 1st over. Despite his performance, India lost the match.
