Steve Smith retained his number 1 ranked position. Steve Smith has consolidated his lead over Virat Kohli to 9 points. Virat Kohli was dismissed cheaply for 12 runs in the first innings at Ranchi and has dropped points to 926 points
New Zealand captain Kane Williamson also retains the number 3 position. The dependable number 3 Cheteshwar Pujara maintained his 4th rank.
Ajinkya Rahane moves up to number 5th in Test rankings after a brilliant 115 in the first innings of Ranchi Test . Henry Nicholls of New Zealand drops one place down to number 6th.
England captain Joe Root slips one place down to 7th while New Zealand batsman Tom Latham also slips one place down to number 8th.
Sri Lankan captain Dimuth Karunaratne slips one place down to number 9th. Rohit Sharma with career best score of 212 runs in the first innings of Ranchi Test has moved to career best rankings of 10th.
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are the only players to be in the top 10 rankings in all formats. Rohit is currently at number 2nd in ODI, 8th T20I rankings. Rohit becomes the 3rd Indian batsmen to be in top rankings across all formats.
The Indian captain Virat Kohli is at number 1 in ODI, number 2 in Test matches and 10th in T20I matches. This shows that the dominance these two Indian cricketers are having in modern day cricket.
In bowling department, Jasprit Bumrah slips one place down to number 4th in rankings. Indian ace off spinner Ravichandran Ashwin drops at number 11th. Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav also reach their career best rankings with brilliant performances in the recently Test series against South Africa.
