Sourav Ganguly set to become the President of BCCI

Sourav Ganguly is set to become the unopposed President of BCCI after filing the nomination for the top job on Monday in Mumbai. The choice was between Brijesh Patel and Ganguly and the former was accepted as the President of BCCI.

Former BCCI President Anurag Thakur brother Arun Singh Dhumal, Jay Shah and couple of other members who are set to assume new posts in the BCCI under the great Sourav Ganguly. Arun Dhumal the younger brother of Anurag Thakur is likely to be named as the treasurer.

Jay Shah is likely to named as the new secretary. “Yes, Brijesh was running for the President’s post with N Srinivasan actively lobbying for him. However, there was stiff resistance against him. We are happy Sourav is the new President,” a senior official from North East affiliated unit, told PTI.

“Ganguly is now the Presidential nominee. Tomorrow, he will file the nomination to the President’s post. This was decided today in a meeting between all representatives,” a source close to Ganguly told Indian express on Sunday night.

The former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly after becoming the President of BCCI would be improve the structure of and also make India play day night Test matches in India.

Shedding light on the dramatic turn of events in which he piped Brijesh Patel to become the frontrunner for BCCI president post, Ganguly said: “I didn’t know I would be the President when I came down. You (the reporter) asked me and I told you it’s Brijesh and when I went up and I came to know it has changed. I have never been in a BCCI election and I never knew it worked like this.”

He will join the job of President of BCCI on 23rd October. His first job will be to talk with the selectors about the future of MS Dhoni for India.

Ganguly becomes the 2nd Indian cricketer to serve the President of BCCI. Maharaja of Vizinagaram who played 3 Test matches served the post of President between 1954 and 1956.
