The Big Bash League 9 saw two hat-tricks in the matches played at 2 different grounds played on Wednesday.
In the first match of the day between Adelaide Strikers and Sydney Sixers, Rashid Khan picked up an hat-trick. After Sixers captain Daniel Hughes won the toss and decided to field first, it was disciplined bowling effort to restrict Strikers for 135 in 19.4 overs.
In reply to 136 runs to win, it was smooth going for Sydney Sixers when Rashid Khan showed his magic by dismissing James Vince, Jack Edwards and Jordan Silk to finish with figures of 4/22. Despite his efforts, Adelaide Strikers lost the match by 2 wickets. Josh Hazlewood hit 3 successive boundaries off Peter Siddle to give Sydney Sixers a thrilling win in a low scoring thriller. He has joined the list of bowlers who has taken 3 hat-tricks in T20 cricket.
Adelaide Strikers are currently on 3rd position with 7 points which includes 3 wins, 3 loss and 1 no result.
During the 2nd match between Melbourne Stars and Sydney Thunder, it was turn of Haris Rauf who bowled with pace and troubled the Sydney Thunder batsmen. Rauf has been in great form for Melbourne Stars this season so far. He took wickets of Matthew Gikes, Callum Ferguson and Daniel Sams in the 20th over to finish with figures of 3/23 in his four overs.
In reply, Marcus Stoinis 50 and Melbourne Stars captain Glenn Maxwell 59 off 37 balls not out helped Stars register a comfortable 6 wicket win with 13 balls to spare. Rauf has shown tremendous skills in this season with his pace and yorkers which has troubled the opposition batsmen.
For his match changing over, Haris Rauf was the named man of the match. Melbourne Stars are currently top of the points table with 12 points which includes 6 wins and 1 loss.
